Because of the recent economic downturn, more people than ever it seems have become aware that money is available though free government grants. So then just who are the people, organizations and business entities that the government targets for this free money that doesn’t have to be paid back?

Free Government Grants for Students and Colleges

The first one in the group that might come to mind is students, colleges and universities. In fact there are several types of basic educational grants that are given out each year to help acedemically upwardly mobile students along their way. Also all varieties of college and university research projects are commonly funded by grant money.

All Types of Small Business Assistance

There are any number of types of grants that target small businesses. The fact is that small businesses are the backbone of the economy and even more so in smaller isolated communities. The fact is that every penny that the government takes in as taxes is spent each year. Most of goes to pay government contractors and workers but a huge percentage of it is handed out as absolutely free government money.

That’s right! Free government money. Even so, it does come with some strings attached and stipulations with regards to how it is to be spent. Stipulations that shouldn’t be taken lightly because in some extreme cases, you can be forced to repay the money.

Also, as with some grants like section 8 rentals, there are some things that can bar you. For instance, if you have ever been through a forced eviction you are automatically disqualified for section 8 housing. A drug sales conviction also disqualifies you.

However; none of these things are taken into consideration with other types of absolutely free government money. For instance there are any number of types of building projects that can be subsidized with grants.

You see if you can demonstrate that a business venture of yours will benefit and provide jobs for a community as a whole, often times state and local governments will provide funding and even give you free land to build on. (continue reading…)
